Staca, founded in 1991 in Jonquière, recovers over 100,000 tonnes of industrial waste every year, mainly for Quebec's aluminum smelters. Run by a second-generation family business, the company focuses on traceability, sustainability and innovation to offer unrivalled service. It employs some twenty people and plays an active role in the circular economy.
Prior to the project, Staca had difficulty effectively tracking its by-product inventories. The lack of traceability was causing :
Processes were manual, fragmented and poorly adapted to the growing demands of customers and regulatory authorities. Lack of visibility over inventories and flows created operational inefficiencies and administrative overload.
Through continuous improvement sessions and an analysis of internal processes, the teams identified sources of inefficiency. The absence of a centralized system, the reliance on manual intervention and the lack of logistical coordination stood out as major bottlenecks.
