Staca

Mandate

Develop and implement an appropriate digital solution to ensure complete traceability of industrial by-products, automate key processes and structure the company's growth.

The customer

Staca, founded in 1991 in Jonquière, recovers over 100,000 tonnes of industrial waste every year, mainly for Quebec's aluminum smelters. Run by a second-generation family business, the company focuses on traceability, sustainability and innovation to offer unrivalled service. It employs some twenty people and plays an active role in the circular economy.

Challenges

Prior to the project, Staca had difficulty effectively tracking its by-product inventories. The lack of traceability was causing :

  • transparency and regulatory compliance
  • operational capacity
  • customer satisfaction
These constraints limited growth potential and made the implementation of a digital solution imperative.

Initial findings

Processes were manual, fragmented and poorly adapted to the growing demands of customers and regulatory authorities. Lack of visibility over inventories and flows created operational inefficiencies and administrative overload.

Objectives

  • Ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Strengthening transparency and customer confidence
  • Optimize inventory management to reduce losses and costs
  • Integrate automation and traceability technologies
  • Supporting strategic growth with robust, flexible processes
  • Interventions

    Diagnosis

Through continuous improvement sessions and an analysis of internal processes, the teams identified sources of inefficiency. The absence of a centralized system, the reliance on manual intervention and the lack of logistical coordination stood out as major bottlenecks.
